Happy Birthday Mom!!!!

Today is my mother’s birthday. I often hear people proclaim that their mother is the best in the world. I don’t doubt that and think the same of my mother. Since it’s her birthday and my blog, please allow me to brag a little about my mom.

There are many attributes that make a person beautiful and I think my mother possesses them all. She is, loving, caring, selfless, kind, affectionate, hardworking, creative, and the list could go on and on. In fact, I think the best way to describe her is to say that she is a reflection of the Proverbs 31 woman.

If you know my mother at all you know that she has the gift of helping others. Usually her way of helping is through the kitchen. During the last kitchen remodel, she had them put in two stoves so she could cook for more people. Some of my fondest memories as a kid were the times our house was bursting at the seams from people who were there for dinner. Be it family, church folk, or neighbors, momma can feed an army. If you are sick or hurting and she knows about it, food will likely be heading your way.

She is also very musical and accomplished on the piano, accordion, and is the best organ player to be found. I think that’s where I got my love of music, although I’m not so sure she is real fond of my banjo. It’s just that, blowing the trumpet around the house doesn’t sit well with people. For as long as I can remember she has played either the piano or organ in every church we attended.

My dad is one lucky guy and I’m sure he knows it. My mother has been a faithful companion to him and spoils him rotten. I have to admit that she does the same for me and my two older sisters. I remember the time I visited and she asked me what I wanted for dinner. She offered me three choices; pizza, a hamburger, or ham and mashed potatoes. I must have been none committal because she made all three.

So on this her birthday, I want her to know that her son loves her dearly and thinks the world of her. I’m so blessed to have a mom like her and hope that her compassion and selflessness for other people reflects through me.

Happy Birthday Mom! I Love You!!!
