Today I was reminded of the 10 lepers of ancient times. Once the disease was contracted these 10 had to leave their family and everything they loved to live as an outcast outside of the village. They had to leave the comforts of home, their hobbies, their favorite chariot, their dog, their comfy bed, their satellite TV ( just checking if you where paying attention), and everything they held dear. Life as they knew it was over. One day as Jesus was walking between villages they stood at a distance and asked him to have pity on them. Guess what? He did and they were healed. Wow talk about a second chance at life. It’s almost like playing a country song backwards. They got their wife back, their chariot back, their dog back, their house back, etc… The kicker to the story though is that out of the 10, only one returned to tell Jesus…thank you. May I never be one who forgets to take time to bow my head and say thank you to God for Erika’s awesome healing and recovery.
This was Erika’s weekend so I offered to do anything she wanted. I suspected that we would be spending countless hours shopping for not really anything, but covering a lot of ground. I was mentally ready for it and had my sneakers on standby. Imagine my surprise when she sent me a text from the hospital asking if the weather looked good for a Saturday flight to Temple, Texas, to visit one of her friends, Dr Heath. What more could a fellow ask for than to do what he wanted while taking his wife to do what she wanted.
This past week saw me off to another couple doctors. I had my appointment set this coming week with a thoracic surgeon who was to do the in the chest biopsy. Well imagine my surprise when the pulmonologist changed his mind and told me to hold off on the poke me in the chest procedure. The doctors are encouraged that for the last 5-6 weeks I no longer feel sick. This is after being sick every day for over 7 months. I am no longer losing weight and, except for the fatigue, the symptoms are nearly gone. For now the plan is to remain on the oral medicine and have CT scans done every three months.
My question is can it be lymphoma if I am feeling better? Where is Solomon when you need him? I believe, if I understand correctly, the answer is no. I asked the doctor this week if it looked like I would be keeping my hair and he said yes. : ) I guess I no longer have an excuse to let it grow long. It is looking more and more like I have the sarcoidosis. How bad...only time will tell; however, I choose faith over fear.

Faith over fear. What is there to fear when you're all in? All in with God's plan, that is. What a great reason to enjoy life.
